Uh Oh, Cheerios

She does it all: sings, dances, points, says "uh oh," eats sand and sips through a straw. Our girl is practically a Rockette. I blame Tom. He made me take cod liver oil all during my pregnancy. But I have to admit I'm excited to have a reason to bring Cheerios to church. Still just the two teeth, but they're real bloodsuckers.

Lauren + Eric (+ PJ) 4Ever

My sister Lauren and Eric Diaz are married! We love them (and P.J. too), and we're so glad we could be part of the event. Lauren's designs, from her wedding dress to the flowers, food and decor, were characteristically brilliant. Overall it was an unforgettable week, but you can see for yourself.

Disney Whirled

To celebrate our independence, we decided to skip town and see some fireworks with the big mouse upstate. Disney World. It turned out to be a not-so-original idea. We shared the park with about 50 million other revelers. If you are breathing and reading this blog, you were probably there too.

Our Lady of the Blanky

O heavy cheeks, ripe plums
Lolling fatness royal and holy
Allyn, patron saint of wiggle
Of berry toes for plucking
Wholly round, miracle of milk.
At tooth’s edge, pearl struck sand
And broke. She cried for joy,
Interruption of hunger
Nameless and without end.

Child's Pose

This month, Ally is into yoga. She gets into some pretty tangled poses, but always seems to find a way back to her tummy. On May 22 her first, long-anticipated tooth broke through and she's been a little grumpy. From child's pose, Ally rocks back and forth, making a little more progress toward crawling every day. Time to buy a rug.
