since i'm not into castor oil, we've been trying out another concept: patience. yesterday we day-tripped it up to Solvang, a little danish-founded town that caters to silly people like us who appreciate the pretend danish architecture and can comfortably eat our weight in pastry.
it's so good when it hits your lips.
the drive up and back was quick and pretty (Little slept most of the way and i read aloud to hubs from a mystery novel). Little's favorite parts of the trip: picking leaves. climbing stairs. investigating lumps on the sidewalk.

Yes, it is. If she's anything like S. she'll love the baby until it starts moving around getting into her stuff. That's when we were asked if she could go back. Nothing like a little thing to mess of your well constructed games that take up the whole living room.
You should send some of that danish my way. I could use it! Maybe even keep it down. How could I not!
I hope she comes soon! What a fun little place. I am glad you had a fun day. Although I don't know if I feel THAT bad for you yet, Regan was 10 days late. You should have heard all the nurses when I checked into labor and delivery. It was the talk of the floor...LOL
Nice Old School reference! (when it hits your lips...)
sarah, are you going to have a #3??! this is news to me. or is there some other reason your stomach might reject a danish? it's just prejudiced that way?
janae, really? even your 2nd was that late? oh, man.
rd, thanks for noticing! lips, right. i will change for artistic accuracy.
Our bags our packed....we're ready to go (go ahead...sing it)....our phones on highest possible ringer volume, only one of us sleeps at a time,....we're just waiting for the word. Patience is not my forte'.......even with a Danish in hand. :-)
I talked to my mom yesterday, and today, and one of those times she said she was working on the dress. I said "any baby yet"? Both of us are just dying to know when she is here! I told my mom maybe you will have her on thursday (which is mom's b-day--and also Oprah's--maybe one day Oprah will give a car to all who shares her b-day!) Worth a shot! Tell Bim to get busy :) Worked with Logan....okay too much info, I know.
Don't worry about Little! She will love it. She's going to be a great big sister, just like her mommy!
i'm with jana, just get nekkid already!
krista. you crack me up. i laughed out loud three times on this post. which is awkward cause i am sharing a cube today with a totally no-nonsense supervisor. but it was so worth it :)
Man, those pictures are cute. It appears Tom and Natalie are coming to help out? Glad to hear that. I was thinking I should offer now that I'm happily unemployed but I'm afraid I might make Bim sick with my (lack of) cooking skills. I can make a good roast, though. And I am the queen of the drive-thru of all worlds. So, if you need any more help after they leave, just give me a call. I can be there in less than a day.
I don't really remember any of my kids having too hard a time when a new sibling came along. I'm sure Little will be just fine.
Those shots are so picturesque.
I always love to find other Northern Exposure groupies out there!
I dreamed (when pregnant) that I gave birth to a black baby. Casey wondered who the father was.
And the SNL sketch with Will Farell being born as a full-grown adult, saying hi to the family, and then leaving the delivery room to go hang out with friends comes to mind too.
I'd love to see what a Richardson puma would look like....
people due on january 31 don't usually miss their due dates. specially if they're gettin borned into the stimpson clan. they just can't wait to join the craziness.
I posted a second comment but apparently it didn't take. I don't even remember what it said. Except, yes I am expecting #3 in September. And since you don't know my family (they don't know yet, except my sister) I don't have to worry about it leaking from you.
And send danish. This little needs the nutrients only pastry can give.
I once had a dream that I gave birth to a few bugs. Creepy. And the whole dream was about getting them food and making sure people didn't mistake them for regular bugs and stomp on them. It was pretty stressful. :)
Next time we visit you will have to take us to the Danish village; too fun!
My birthday is on Monday and I just wanted you to know that I am totally ok with sharing said day. Wink wink, nudge nudge.
If you wanted to wait a little longer, just go ahead and wait til feb 6th and then she can share with Autumn. Look at all these nice people who are willing to let you share their b-day with your little one!
Wow, Sherry! You're doing great to get out and do so much so close to your due date. I'm in awe. The pictures of Little are a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e. I love the last one so I'm coming down there momentarily to kiss her on that dimple and all about her scrumptious little neck. Don't think I won't! I haven't had me any good neck kissing for oh, say...since last October. Not good for a grandma.
Megara: So are you talking Monday, February 2? Groundhog's Day? That's Amanda's b-day, too!
So, Sherry, it looks like Wee's gonna have some really good company when she finally arrives: today (Aunt Coy), Saturday (Annie),Monday (Megara and Manda). Then, Feb. 6, (Autumn), Feb. 11 (Jeff), Feb. 12 (Honest Abe), Feb. 14 (Valentine's Day), and Feb. 22 (me and George Washington). That last one's a bit of a stretch. No pun intended.
SC's just worried because when she got a new brother, she tried to kill him.
I'm NOT making that up.
