napping skirts
i just knew yesterday, when i woke up to the sound of the rain, that it was going to be a good day--and it was. i needed it too because i was starting to feel a little blue. SAD = Seasons All-look-exactly-the-same Disorder.
we made hay, you might say, while the sun didn't shine. here's a pass-along from our fun fall day:
if your Little sleeps in the afternoon (and if she's the girl kind), then you can make her a whole mess of skirts during nap time. if i can do it...it must be easy.
the free instructions (no pattern required) are courtesy of oliver + s. jaymie, remember how we were talking about skirts for ruby? this one might be for you.
i added pockets to this one from a ruined dinner napkin (bad, bad bleach!):
this one is a little longer 'cause Little skins her knees sometimes if she runs real fast. she likes the freedom of squatting in the dirt, running and jumping, without the hindrance of pantaloons.

Too cute K. You will be seeing Lyza sportin' her new skirts in a few months (that is, if her Mommy sticks with a project and actually finishes them!) I was thinking it would be fun to make matching Christmas outfitties for the little ones and have their pictures taken together whilst we are there?
i love that idea! i was thinking of a winter white and black christmas. what do you think?
i'm going to stock up on silk dupioni next week at the fabric store sale.
Cute cute cute...both the skirts and the skirt wearer. You amaze me.
Adorable! I love those little pockets on the white skirt and the flower on the brown one.
Clever clever.
Glad you enjoyed the day!
Wow. You are so productive. Double Wow. And does the pattern come with instructions on how to choose awesome fabric? Or how to motivate oneself to even thread a machine?
Is there anything you can't sew? Adorable!
ditto to what Jackie says! Wow, you are such a sewer sewer such your tower! Just as your sis. Oh the clothes your kids will wear. Clothes made with love are the best clothes to wear! My kids are sure unloved then. :(
All I ever wanted was some napping skirts. Is that so wrong?
Did you somehow create Little's hair in all your creative glory? I would like one of those heads of hair. Maybe two, one spare one in case the other one gets too muddy.
so cute. i have dreams of aspiring to someday being this productive. that's right. i don't dream of being productive, i dream of aspiring to it. anyway, cute skirts, cute wearer, cute jumps, cute hair, cute mom. you have lucky lucky daughters. and when they are teenagers and forget to appreciate you, i will tell them.
somehow i have given the impression that i am energetic and productive. if only. i can see that there is going to have to be a reckoning. stay tuned for the real story of my typical day. you won't be so impressed!
you are so talented. can i be like you when i grow up? so, tell me more about the name for the new little one....miss you and miss you more.
I'm staying tuned for the sequel. I can't imagine being that productive while caring for one and growing another one. But...sometimes we do get ambitious, don't we? Good job!
That photo of Little leaping in the air with her skirt is my favorite! Oh to be young and cute with a load of curls and a mess of napping skirts. ;) ps. where did you get that CUTE fabric?
CUTE!
Hah! I had to look up dupioni! Too funny. Yah, if you come across an idea of what they could wear, pass it along and I will look as well!
